Erin Lyons - Intern

american association of counselors

Qualifications/Background/Experience

Erin is a master’s level intern pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. She was born and raised in a suburb of Chicago but has found her true home in the beautiful Arizona desert. Erin has been married for 30 years, spending the first 23 moving around the world as an Air Force wife. She is blessed to have two adult children who were college athletes, so the past eight years have been spent chasing them around the country and cheering them on.

Erin is passionate about people! She is committed to helping children, adolescents, adults, and couples find balance, meaning, and hope in their lives. Erin has discovered through life experience and studying the stages of human development, that we each have a unique story full of relationships, struggles, joys, and a search for purpose. She desires to help others discover the factors that could be blocking or impeding their journey.

Erin believes in a holistic approach to mental health wellness and will use a variety of evidence-based approaches to uncover the root cause of symptoms. As a Christ-follower, Erin allows faith to guide her steps, so it is important to provide a safe space for others to investigate their spiritual needs if they choose to integrate faith into their growth and healing. For many individuals, the counseling process is something they are unfamiliar with, so Erin’s objective is to approach each session with a willingness to listen and learn, working together to uncover strengths, address challenges, and set goals.

Erin understands that struggles and trauma can affect everyone, and many times seeking help is the first step in the healing process. Currently finishing her training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Erin is dedicated to using this approach to help individuals break free from the burden of painful memories and trauma. She is working under the direct supervision of Susan Panos, M.Ed., LPC, who is an approved Clinical Supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.

Erin sees clients in our Glendale office. She is available for both in-person and online sessions. She can be contacted at (480) 246-2533 or by email at erin@christiancounselingservicesaz.com.
