Amanda Johnson is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) practicing under the supervision of Elijah Steinbrecher, MS, LMFT, an approved Clinical Supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.
Amanda holds a Bachelor of Science from Biola University, a Master of Education from Northern Arizona University, and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Her counseling approach is centered on supporting clients in their journey toward emotional, mental, and relational well-being. She believes that healing happens within a supportive therapeutic relationship and values creating a space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered.
Amanda utilizes an integrative, person-centered approach to counseling, tailoring treatment to the unique needs, strengths, and goals of each client. As a trauma-informed counselor, she recognizes the impact life experiences can have on thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviors. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based therapy that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic and distressing experiences.
With many years of experience in education, working closely with adolescents (12+) and parents, Amanda has a deep appreciation for the resilience and potential of today’s generations. She enjoys working with adolescents, young adults, women, individuals navigating betrayal trauma, families, couples, and adults seeking healing and growth.
As a person of faith, Amanda is comfortable integrating faith into the counseling process at a level that aligns with each client’s preferences and values.
Outside of counseling, Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and cheering on her adult children and their spouses as they pursue their own life journeys. She is grateful for the many years she spent supporting them through sports, school activities, and life’s milestones. She also enjoys being active, spending time outdoors, and continuing to learn and grow both personally and professionally.
Amanda practices out of the Gilbert office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
