Qualifications/Background/Experience

Ben is a Licensed Associate Counselor with a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. He also has a B.A. in history and philosophy and an M.A. in Religious Studies. He taught literature and history at the junior high and high school level for 19 years, while also teaching community college classes part time. He has been married for 20 years and has 2 children and 1 dog.

Ben is a trauma informed therapist. He is committed to addressing root causes, rather than just outward symptoms. He wants to help people find lasting change and stability in their lives. Ben is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is the gold standard in the industry for for treating trauma related challenges. Other areas of focus for Ben include depression, anxiety, social challenges, boundaries, family conflict, anger management, and couples counseling,

Ben works with individuals ages 5 and older. He has gentle nature and good sense of humor when he connects with children and adolescents.

Ben is working under the supervision of Theresa Hay, MS, LPC, NCC who is an approved clinical supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health. He will be working out of the Glendale and Metro offices on Mondays and Tuesdays and will be available for telehealth Wednesday through Saturday.
