Joel Thompson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who specializes in helping people overcome depression, anxiety and various traumas. With over 15 years of experience in community mental health agencies, crisis intervention, group and individual counseling at the VA, Joel has worked with adults from all walks of life.

Joel became a Christian at a young age, with this faith playing an integral part of his life, including his career decision to become a therapist. Having grown up in the church, Joel is passionate about helping people gain tools and insights to integrate mental health with their faith.
Joel holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Grand Canyon University and a master’s degree in social work from Arizona State University.
Joel is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as a primary modality. He is also trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and the Gottman Method for committed couples.
Joel sees adults with a variety of presenting issues including childhood or recent traumas, anxiety, depression, addiction, military/veterans issues, sexual abuse, stress, mood disorders, self-esteem issues, and grief/loss.
