Mandy Pavey - Intern

Qualifications/Background/Experience

Mandy Pavey is a Master’s level counseling intern at Christian Counseling Services of Arizona, currently pursuing a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Grand Canyon University.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Mandy moved to the Philippines where she spent time working with girls who were rescued from sexual abuse. Upon returning to the U.S., she continued the majority of her professional career as a social worker, working with teens and young adults who were pregnant or parenting and had aged out of the foster care system. She went on to volunteer at a camp for children in foster care as a counselor and director; eventually opening her own home to provide a safe and loving place for children and teens who were experiencing displacement from their families. Through these experiences, Mandy was able to walk alongside many young people who were hurting, meeting them where they were at in their pursuit of hope and healing. Mandy is a firm believer in the transformative power of relationships; recognizing that although relationships are often the main
source of pain, they are also a pathway of healing. Her desire is to be a vessel of Truth, with guidance from the Lord who understands one’s deepest needs before a word is spoken.

Mandy is an Arizona native with a love for the quiet peace of nature, enjoys anything that encourages her creative artistic side, and never turns down a good card or board game. Mandy is a wife and mother and enjoys slow weekends at home with her family.

Mandy has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who find themselves impacted by trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, autism and other developmental disorders, attachment issues, family conflict and relational issues, abuse, parentification, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), ADHD, depression, and anxiety disorders. She does not take for granted the opportunity to connect with others and be trusted in their greatest time of need.

Mandy is in the process of being trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and is under the direct supervision of Emilie Christman, MS, LCSW, and an approved Clinical Supervisor under the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. She works out of the Apache Junction office on Thursdays and the Gilbert/Mesa offices on Fridays and Saturdays.
