Leah Hodges is a counseling intern pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree at Grand Canyon University. As a Phoenix native with deep roots in the northwest valley, her prior professional background includes a combination of high school and junior high teaching, high school pastoral care, and collegiate
academic and financial advising. The expertise she brings to her counseling practice has also been shaped by years as a foster parent and as a 20-year “fire wife”.
Through her unique combination of life experiences, Leah has developed a deep interest in understanding how trauma influences human functioning and relationships, and the freedom that comes from healing deep wounds. Leah approaches the counseling practice through a Christian perspective, with the belief that every individual
has been created in the image of a perfect God (Genesis 1:27) and has access to the Spirit of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
Leah is committed to partnering with you in uncovering the root of internal and relational issues to find hope in a future free from anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma symptoms. She has a particular passion for serving first responders and their family members, with a first-hand understanding of the unique strain that line of work can place on a family unit.
When she’s away from the counseling office, Leah enjoys soaking up as much time as possible with her two college-age children before they leave the nest! Her happy place is on a beach or a boat, and she and her husband get in a country swing dancing session whenever they can.
Leah is currently completing training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) treatment, which is an incredible therapeutic tool to assist with the process of finding freedom from painful experiences. She practices under the direct supervision of Candace Cook, MS, LPC, LAMFT, who is an approved Clinical Supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. To schedule an appointment with Leah, please call or text (623) 428-9316 or email leah@christiancounselingservicesaz.com. She meets clients out of the Glendale and
Surprise offices.
I am able to meet with clients either online via telehealth or in person at my office.
