Qualifications/Background/Experience

Brokenhearted. Misunderstood. Overwhelmed. Ashamed. Alone.

There are times in our lives when these words describe the heaviness in our hearts. Whether it is the exhaustion of navigating difficult relationships, being consumed by painful memories, or carrying a burden inside too difficult to share or let go of, Katie believes that healing is ultimately found in genuine connection with God, yourself, and others. She would be honored to walk alongside you in this process.

Katie uses various trauma-informed approaches, such as Internal Family Systems, somatic techniques, CBT/DBT, and is currently working toward completion of EMDR Basic Training. She also draws ideas from Art, Sandtray, and Play therapies. While her specialty is in treating these conditions through a Christ-centered lens, clients of other backgrounds are also cherished and welcome. Together, you both can create a treatment plan that works for you.

In therapy, you can explore your mental, spiritual, sensory, and emotional experiences that weave together who you are as a person, which she believes are all seen by the God who loves you. If you are searching for solace and healing in a non-judgmental space, Katie would love to be a part of your journey.

As a Licensed Associate Counselor, Katie provides services under the AZBBHE-approved clinical supervision of Elijah Steinbrecher, MS, LMFT. Katie works with adults, children, and couples struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, relationship issues, shame, and crisis of faith.

Katie earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Liberty University in 2015, followed by a Master of Arts in Counseling from Phoenix Seminary in 2020. Her work experience includes an internship at Arizona Christian University in 2019, where she provided therapy to students and staff. After obtaining her Associate license, she worked and participated in various settings, including faith-based organizations, military bases, marriage & relationship seminars, suicide intervention education, troubled youth programs, grief & infertility support, and behavior therapy centers for children with autism.

When Katie is not working, she loves to garden, read, and spend quality time with friends & family. She has been married to her husband for 13 years, and together they have an energetic boy, a happy Golden Retriever, and a few fluffy backyard chickens. They love being involved in their church and connecting with their community.
