Heidi Johnsen - Intern

Qualifications/Background/Experience

Heidi Johnsen is a Master’s-Level Clinical Intern currently completing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University. She brings a strong academic foundation to her counseling work, with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern California and a Master of Arts from Point Loma Nazarene University. Heidi’s counseling approach is centered on each client’s personal experiences, supporting their journey toward holistic well-being in mind, body, and soul.

With a passion for working with people, Heidi provides psychotherapy to adolescents, teens, adults, and couples. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a trauma-informed approach that helps clients navigate painful memories and strengthen emotional resilience. She is in the process of completing her training through an EMDRIA-approved program.

As a Christian, Heidi integrates faith into the counseling experience at a level that aligns with each client’s comfort and values. She believes deeply in the healing power of empathy, collaboration, and evidence-based care, and is honored to walk alongside clients as they pursue growth, clarity, and meaningful change. Her ideal clients are those who come ready to be honest, vulnerable, and invested in their own healing. Therapy is a collaborative journey, and she honors the courage it takes to do the work.

Heidi is under the supervision of Emilie Christman, LCSW, a Senior Licensed Therapist and approved Clinical Supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.
