Amanda Johnson - Intern

american association of counselors

Qualifications/Background/Experience

Amanda is currently pursuing her Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University and is a Master’s Level Intern. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Biola University and a Master’s of Education from Northern Arizona University. Amanda’s counseling approach is centered on the client’s journey to achieving physical, emotional, and mental well-being. With extensive experience in education, particularly working with adolescents and parents, she believes deeply in the resilience and strength of today’s generations.

As a person of faith, Amanda integrates faith into her counseling practice, offering support at a level that aligns with each client’s comfort. She provides psychotherapy to children, adolescents, families, couples, and individuals.

Amanda has spent years cheering from the sidelines, proudly supporting her two children through countless games and practices of many sports. Being a soccer mom was a meaningful chapter in her life, filled with early mornings, team spirit, and unforgettable memories. She now cheers them on in their lives after college, celebrating their growth and accomplishments beyond the field. A former runner, Amanda has completed the Ragnar Race twice alongside a team of inspiring women. These days, she’s embracing a new adventure—learning to play pickleball—and continues to enjoy staying active and spending time outdoors.

Amanda is under the supervision of Elijah Steinbrecher MS, LMFT, an approved Clinical Supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.  She is currently training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
