Sadie Smith - Intern

Qualifications/Background/Experience

Sadie is a Master’s level Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern who believes that “people make sense when we understand their story, but we don’t have to stay stuck in the chapters that hurt us.” She is passionate about helping individuals and couples discover the deeper patterns that shape the way they think, relate, and experience the world. Rather than focusing solely on symptom relief, she helps clients uncover the experiences and beliefs that have quietly shaped their lives, break free from unhealthy patterns, build healthier relationships, and achieve transformative change.

Sadie earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Grand Canyon University and is currently completing her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northern Arizona University – North Valley. She is also certified in Life Coaching and Advanced Hypnotherapy. Before pursuing counseling full time, Sadie worked as a brain performance coach supporting first responders experiencing chronic stress and trauma. That experience reinforced her belief that resilience is not simply about surviving difficult experiences, but about understanding how those experiences continue to shape our lives long after they have passed.

Sadie has a special passion for working with couples, adults healing from relational trauma, and individuals who feel stuck in unhealthy behavioral patterns. Whether someone is struggling with childhood wounds, betrayal, anxiety, emotional disconnection, or trauma, she desires to help clients uncover those patterns that no longer serve them and empower them to live with greater authenticity, purpose, and peace.

Sadie has completed Level 1 training in the Gottman Method (a couples therapy modality) and is currently under supervision for use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based treatment that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences. She works under the direct supervision of Candace Cook, LPC, an approved Clinical Supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.

Outside of counseling, Sadie enjoys spending time with her husband and children, investing in her own spiritual growth, and finding opportunities to deepen both her clinical knowledge and personal faith. Sadie is a fairly new believer, finding Christ after witnessing a miracle in her own life. She wholeheartedly incorporates faith into sessions for those that desire it, though she warmly welcomes individuals from all faiths and backgrounds and seeks to create a space where all clients feel respected and supported.

Sadie is currently located at the North Phoenix Baptist Church – Central location. Telehealth appointments are also available.
