Courtney Patton - Intern

Qualifications/Background/Experience

Courtney earned her undergraduate degree in Behavioral Health Science from Grand Canyon University and is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work at Grand Canyon University. She brings over a decade of experience working with adults, teens, and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, along with a background in higher education program management.

Her professional experience includes workforce development, life skills, executive functioning education, and early intervention experience supporting families and children through behaviorally informed interventions. Courtney utilizes a client-centered, strengths-based approach and draws from evidence-based practices that focus on identifying helpful and unhelpful thought patterns, understanding the different “parts” of ourselves that show up in response to stress or past experiences, and building practical tools to support emotional regulation and daily functioning.

Courtney is passionate about helping people live in freedom in their story and in the abundant life of Christ. She believes the Spirit of God dwells within us (Romans 8:9). By addressing the mind, body, and soul in counseling and exploring how past wounds have affected a person’s life, space is created for the healing presence of Jesus to enter areas marked by pain, sorrow, and suffering. Courtney believes in exploring the root causes of symptoms in order to support meaningful and lasting change.

Courtney is currently receiving training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and works under the direct supervision of Emilie Christman, LCSW, an approved Clinical Supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.

Outside of counseling, Courtney enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new coffee shops, film photography, and being outdoors. She has a deep love for Jesus, who rescued her heart through a vibrant sunset when she was a young girl.

She currently sees clients at the North Phoenix Baptist Church – Central location on Tuesdays
and Wednesdays, the Metrocenter office on Thursdays, and the Glendale office on Fridays and
Saturdays. Telehealth appointments are also available.
