Doug Borrmann, MS, LPC

Qualifications/Background/Experience

Are you feeling stuck in painful patterns, disconnected in your marriage, or weighed down by anxiety or unresolved trauma? Doug Borrmann is passionate about helping individuals and couples move from emotional isolation to restoration, clarity, and renewed connection — both with God and with one another.

Doug is a Licensed Professional Counselor who holds a Master of Science degree from Grand Canyon University. He has completed EMDR Levels 1 and 2 training and has received specialized training in Gottman Method (Levels 1 & 3), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

With eight years of professional counseling experience, Doug works with adults and couples navigating anxiety, trauma, marital distress, and grief. His work is trauma-informed and thoughtfully integrates faith for those who desire it.

Doug believes we are created in the image of God. Yet trauma and relational ruptures often create internal barriers — protective parts and distorted beliefs — that prevent us from living freely in that image. Drawing from Romans 12:2, Doug views healing as a process of transformation through the renewing of the mind. As clients process wounds and relational pain, they experience greater clarity, emotional freedom, and alignment with who God designed them to be.

Doug’s passion for counseling is deeply personal. Having experienced the loss of a family member to mental illness, he understands how unaddressed pain can drive isolation and undermine fulfillment. He is especially committed to helping individuals confront emotional pain before it becomes entrenched and helping marriages find meaningful restoration. Doug believes that when marriages thrive, generations are impacted for the better.

Clients often experience Doug as compassionate, direct, and relational. He values honesty, emotional safety, and practical tools that create lasting change.

Doug is married and the father of two boys. He serves clients virtually and in person at the Mesa offices of Christian Counseling Services.
