Carla is working on a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University. She has Bachelor of Science in Personal Development and Advanced Patient Care from Grand Canyon University. Additionally, she has obtained a Licensed of Practical Nursing certification from Columbiana Country Career and Technical Center. She has experience with healthcare professionals, veterans, youth, women, and children. Furthermore, she has served in various areas of ministry within her church. Currently, she is involved with her congregation’s intercessory prayer and children’s ministries in Glendale.
When working with the homeless ministry on the reservation, this is where she learned to embrace a person’s life story, which initiated her yearning to help individuals experiencing trauma. Carla found herself mentoring clients and colleagues through care management. God has used these moments to inspire Carla to pursue her counseling degree; thus, she is working on training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Carla loves to read, volunteer in communal outreaches, and spend time watching her sons’ baseball games. She enjoys planning adventurous outdoor activities, and sightseeing. Although, dedicating time and serve to God is her foundation; her desire is glory God in everything.
Carla will be working under the supervision of Joel Thompson, MSW, LCSW who is an approved supervisor by the AZBBHE.
Carla will be working out of the Goodyear and Surprise offices on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. She is able to meet clients either online via telehealth or in person at the office. Carla can be reached at carla@christiancounselingservicesaz.com or 602-621-5470.
