Educational Background:
Dr. Horn is a Doctor of Clinical Psychology, having studied at notable universities. During her schooling she completed many hours of supervised work with at-risk youth, individuals in substance abuse treatment programs, severely mentally ill patients, the homeless population, survivors of sexual assault, and incarcerated individuals and their families. Since graduation she has continued her work with the substance abuse population in recovery programs including medication-assisted treatment. Finally, she has completed her therapy hours necessary for licensure as a psychologist in a prestigious private practice setting working with couples and supervising doctoral students.
Additionally, she is a published author, including original research on Biblical accounts of sibling/familial interactions paired with psychological theory titled, “We Were Family: Exploring Sibling Relationships in the Bible through a Psychological Lens.”
Therapeutic Approach:
Taking a relational, attachment-based approach to the therapeutic process through the lens of a Christian worldview, Dr. Horn seeks to provide a non-judgmental and supportive space for her clients to express their longings, their griefs, their heartaches, and heart’s desires.
In therapy, one size does not fit all. Dr. Horn will tailor her therapeutic style to meet your goals, making it a creative and reciprocal partnership. Dr. Horn regularly requests client feedback to discuss any concerns, hesitations, or benefits for the purpose of tracking progress.
Dr. Horn integrates evidence-based psychological practices such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) into the Christian perspective, utilizing Biblical concepts such as forgiveness and grace.
