As ViVi would say because she meditates on it daily – “May our home be a home of Shalom (His perfect peace that passes all understanding).” This is her daily prayer for her household and yours. Everyone desires this, however, the cares of this life try to take away our Shalom. Christ as our foundation and Shalom in the atmosphere is the desire for ViVi in the families she works with.
Virgiann Searcy (nicknamed ViVi) is currently an intern working on her Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family therapy. She is a student at Northcentral University and is on track to graduate in Spring 2023. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Communications at Northern Illinois University in 2008.
ViVi believes that the family unit, as a whole, plays a key role in each individual within that family. Therefore, working with children and their families is an area of the desired specialty. After working in a therapeutic day school with high-schoolers who exhibited various social-emotional disorders, ViVi developed a greater passion to work with the youth and their families through those difficulties. When even a model student, who was having a hard day confessed and expressed that nothing in life mattered anymore because her father said she was “only good for laying on her back,” ViVi realized that treating the child apart from the family can only go so far. This put her on the path towards working on her licensure in Marriage and Family Therapy.
ViVi is also a strong advocate for holistic living and eating. She believes that because our bodies are the temple of Elohim, we have to treat it like that because we are His vessels. Research evidence supports the notion that nutrition affects a person’s mental state. Our Faith and our works are associated with our words and action, therefore we have to show ourselves worthy (to Him) by taking care of these temples.
ViVi is excited for the opportunity to learn and grow with Christian Counseling Services. ViVi adores working with children and adolescents, and she is available to work with all ages. As a stay-at-home mom of five boys herself, this native of Chicago relocated to Arizona three years ago to soak up all the beauty of the Father’s creation. As one who enjoys the outdoors, her family desired to be in a climate that caters to this. In her free time, ViVi enjoys every bit of family time, hiking, exercising, baking vegan goodies, and spending time studying His Word.
ViVi is under the direct supervision of Donald Durham, Ph.D., who is an approved Clinical Supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. She can be reached at 773-272-5747 and email@example.com.
