Shari is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and is very grateful for the opportunity to provide
therapy to clients through Christian Counseling Services Arizona. Her goal is to provide a safe, healing
space for clients to unburden themselves and feel heard and accepted while processing painful feelings
and navigating difficult life circumstances. She provides faith based (if desired) trauma informed
services to individuals using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and principles
from mindfulness based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT),
internal family systems (IFS) and solution focused therapy. Her particular interests include spiritual
abuse recovery and narcissistic abuse recovery as well as holistic healing of mind, body and spirit. She
is completing training as a functional medicine trauma specialist, mental health integrative medicine
provider, and clinical trauma specialist.
She earned her M.A. in Family Counseling from Eastern Nazarene College and a M.S. in Physician
Assistant Studies from Shenandoah University. Her experience as a physician assistant includes
general, integrative and functional medicine and some addiction medicine and mental health. She has a
Master Psychopharmacologist Certificate through the Neuroscience Education Institute and studied
neuroscience in clinical psychiatry. Her research interests include the intersection of childhood abuse,
traumatic stress, psychosis and serious mental illness as well as adverse childhood events leading to
adult physical illness.
Shari works out of the Anthem office under the supervision of Theresa Hay, MS, LPC, NCC an
