Joanna is a master’s level intern at Grand Canyon University working toward her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Washburn University.
Her career began in sales and marketing in Texas where she met her husband. They relocated to Arizona in 2012. After she became a mother, she began working as the Director of Scottsdale Parenting group, a non-profit which provided psychoeducational parenting classes. As Joanna became more involved with her community and parenting education, she felt a calling to continue her path of becoming a counselor. As a mother of young children, she is passionate about working with adults and family systems.
Joanna believes in a holistic approach to healing that considers the whole person’s experiences and integrates the mind, body, and faith. She continues to learn new healing approaches to integrate into her practice including working with individuals that have experienced trauma. Currently working toward her certification of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Joanna believes that understanding the root causes of problems can bring positive changes to a person’s everyday life and relationships with others. Partnering with you in your healing journey, Joanna believes in the power of faith and the grace that comes with a relationship with Christ.
Joanna is working under the direct supervision of Susan Panos, M.Ed., LPC, who is an approved Clinical Supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.
