Dr. Don is a licensed psychologist who has been in the helping professions for 30+ years. After working for the renowned Minirth-Meier Clinic in the 1980s, Dr. Don moved to Arizona to develop the program and serve as founding Clinical Director of Remuda Ranch Center for Eating Disorders. He has partnered with Steve Arterburn’s New Life Clinics in Arizona and Alfred Ells’ Leaders That Last Network. Dr. Don served as Clinical and Training Director for Gatehouse Therapeutic Health Services, providing recovery-oriented psychotherapy for young adult addicts as well as serving as a practicum and pre-doctoral internship site supervisor.
Throughout all these shared endeavors Dr. Don has had a private practice and developed specialties in eating disorders, addictions, men’s issues, psychological assessment, the integration of psychology into a Christian worldview, and trauma; along with ongoing development in the areas of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT) and Internal Family Systems therapy. Finally, he is becoming a certified EMDR provider.
Dr. Don has supervised counselor trainees at the practicum, pre-doctoral and post-doctoral levels of development since 1995. Teaching, training, and supervision are an integral part of the background that he brings into the therapy encounter. Colleagues have commented on Dr. Don’s compassion and insight as well as his ever-present sense of humor! He and his wife Karen have three adult children and nine grandchildren that keep them young!
Dr. Don works out of our Gilbert office, at 1206 E Warner Rd, Unit 101H. He also offers Telehealth services.
. He also offers distance therapy by video teleconference as well as Telehealth therapy. Furthermore, he is available for house calls on a select basis. Dr. Don is an approved Clinical Supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. He can supervise Practicum students, Interns, and Licensed Associate Counselors.
